WE won

In case you aren't aware, EV stands for Eddie Vedder. Yea. That's right bitches. This pick is now BEN (and mine). WE won at life.

Andrew Keoghan + The Ghosts of Motat gig in Port

So L, J and I ventured out to Port once again for a gig that nobody was at. I am growing quite fond of these quiet gigs. It feels like these great musicians have just popped round to our place and are playing in the lounge etc. No indie dicks steppin' on your feet type shit.

As for the music, it was very enjoyable, Nadia Reid was a nice surprise as an opener, best part was when she thanked us '3' for coming, but I had actually just popped off to the bathroom thus leaving only 2...

By this stage I had apparently become more drunk than I was aware of. There was more great music, a bit of pre/post gig banter and some cringe moments. Thankfully Gloria was played whilst I was sober (or drunk) enough to have a sing along.

Great night and thanks to you all for being friendly buggers and what not.

Port Chalmers

Just some photos taken whilst in Port Chalmers the other day. Not very interesting but haven't posted in awhile and i have become an uninteresting person in general. So yea.

A tunnel. Exciting. Woop.

Some boats & shit

Some geese that were probably going to kill us.

This is boob hill, it looks a bit like a boob.

Andrew Keoghan

So tickets at the door are $10, starts at 9.

All you need to know i'd say.

Just enrolled someone called 'Baby Twinkle' , no surname, just Baby Twinkle.

I have a new office spot at work you know that room off to the side just as you walk in. Thats where I am. Yip pretty sweet, well out of the range of whatever that crappo radio station is they have playing in main office and I can actually have the room at a temperature appropriate for a normal human being as opposed to the office no open window-heaters on full-regardless of the weather policy ;
Anyhoo been involved in a majorly obsessive relationship with Laurel Collective as of yesterday. Love this song and vid.

Ok for the life of me have tryed to figure out how to stick the video up here but obviously way too comptarded. k help?

Micachu dominates with an epicly epical cover of this song that i cannot stop listening to, its on their myspace.

And this is cool sushi. Its relevant cos picachu rhymes with micachu. Not going to tie in the panda thing, its just cool.
Riight off to do this fricking fun run, im all about the workplace participation and apparently we get dinner and drinks after. Ace !

let's blog again, like we did last summer, let's blog again, like we did last year.

Liv seeing as you didn't last thus haven't seen this, here is the little sign off the door that Paul got a couple of the guys from The Veils to sign for us. Nothing major really but still pretty cool.
Also here is a picture of like the most amazing sized chocolate money, isn't it great! Jen's mum bought them for as because we were bored however, now i am bored and ill. But its still super.

In other news, I emailed The Gladeyes saying we enjoyed the gig yada yada yada, incase you're interested, this is what they replied:

Hi Kirsten,

Thanks heaps, glad you enjoyed the show and thanks for making the journey out.
We really liked Dunedin and Port was especially special.

Hope you like the album!

xx Jade and Gwen

Now isn't that nice?

Also i have started trying to learn the guitar. It leads to much frustration and very sore fingers but so far i can play some sweet power chords in the style of Led Zeppelin (apparently), and other such classic rock bands, it's pretty funny.

Sorry bloggy blog for neglecting you i"ll be a proper blogger now.

Going to have a bit of a blather about me and Nats wee jaunt to Central Otago. We spent monday in queenstown, drove round to Glenorchy with her british friend Alex who we met up with who was pretty funny and that was cool lah de dah.
Then monday night we were going to camp and fuck me we decided to camp at Skippers Canyon. To get down there you have to drive along this scary as fuck road, there is only 2 roads in NZ where you aren't covered by any car insurance apparently and this is one on them like omg/wtf actually millimeters from death the whole way down, waaaay too much for a rubbish driver like me to cope with. So narrow and bumpy gravel with all these potholes and shit me, this picture does not show how flipping intense these corners were.
I feel they have probably just taken this picture of the mellowest segment of road to encourage tourism.
Was like a 28km drive down to the river it was this goldmining place called Skippers and camped by like this historical school by these 2 german men who had caught this little baby goat. On the way down we stopped and the car broke down, so fuck my life and were like on empty petrol driving back up but the germans said they would save us.
This possum was like dying/laughing or some fucking thing right outside our tent through the night Natalie thought it was like a teradactor (fuck i dont know how to spell but one of those flying dinosaurs) while I imagined like a harry potter type beast, some kind of demented evil unicorn thing, but yeah the germans told us in the morning it was just a possum.
Sorry don't want to make this all travel diary but thats what happened and i truely thought i was going to die at several points in the Canyon trip I hope you can appreciate that. Kudos to hardcore german hunters for not murdering the goat nor natalie or myself and non-kudos to my mum for giving me a sleeping bag that didn't have a zip, and Ryan the screwbag for being a faux- mechanic.

"Library Boy"

By Liv

My Grandma

Just thought I'd share you all a wee story about my Grandma, cause I am at her house and I blame her laptop what I am using right now for me not being able to make the link thingy work; also won't let me paste picture onto the blog so this blog will be boring with no pictures.

Anyway just up at my Grandma's cause my car is getting fixed and my sister bought me a Subway for lunch which I was quite excited about eating when I got up to Grandma's, but alas Grandma had different plans for me and my lunch.

I was advised on my arrival that I wasn't allowed to eat my Subway and she then proceeded to serve me up an entire quiche and salad and an orange and a coffee and a tray of baking that had 8 pieces of baking on it. Needless to say I am very full and I really want my Subway.

Just thought I'd share that because K requested something to read and I thought this would be better than nothing. But then again maybe it isn't.
Anywho.
Ciao.

Shane! (as in 'shame' not 'this is Shane' or something I would expect him to do... cause I don't.)

Anyway so I can't do that fancy video thing but here's the link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddzyEYBcUNQ

Slash here you go Jen:

Reckon Liv has the facilities to recreate this if she pleases. I vote yes please.

Anyway looks like this isn't coming up as a link... don't know why. I'm computeretarded.

Cold War Kids

This video is really wicked, you can click on them to pick who you want playing etc.
Interactive video type shit.

Beck - Irrelevant Topics

Great Boredom Buster...

Beck just has some yarns with people and puts them on his website.
Pretty interesting to be honest, very bad for exam study

Anyway go here to read, he talks to Tom Waits and Will Ferrell (and some other guy) i guess more to come, pretty recent venture i think.

Just liked this.

Anyone like????

Finally! After grabbing our attention with their amazing and catchy single ‘Psychosis of Love’, Auckland duo The Gladeyes have finally announced the release details of their upcoming album of the same name. Psychosis of Love will be out November 9 on Lil Chief Records and features, on some songs, the drumming talents of Ryan McPhun (The Ruby Suns, The Brunettes), plus bass from James Milne (Lawrence Arabia, The Reduction Agents) Tim Guy, and Henry Oliver (Die! Die! Die!). The Auckland Children and Youth choir also reportedly added a “spine-tingling chorus”. If the lead single is anything to go by, The Gladeyes’ new album is going to be a
thoroughly impressive, bold new direction for the girls. The single has become one of my favourite songs released all year, it is so compelling, sincere and catchy.

These guys are coming to Dunedin, if you guys like it could be worth a trip out to
Port, group gig type thing, Natalie could come too Liv.
Saturday 14th November at Chicks Hotel, Port Chalmers

Just thought i'd chuck gig poster on here too

Die! Die! Die! / interesting covers

New vid from Die! Die! Die! for their song People Talk
Jen, you should recognise this song it's on one of your mixtapes

Erin Simpson Song

SO it's on youtube, couldn't figure out how to be all fancy like K and her Beirut video but here's the link:

Go on treat yourself.

NZ's version of the E Channel! (According to Erin not me)

Just thought I'd share the joy of Erin Simpson with those of you not already acquainted with her...
Erin Simpson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ain't she just brilliant? Talk about awkward photo central. Erin, that isn't a smile, it is a grimace.
Anyway, anyway, anyway she is something else, something painful but something great. So I really do urge you to check her show out, on tele or on TVNZondemand, like it is just great. Like my heading suggests...the E channel.... anyway judge for yourself.

Pretty sure her music video (that's right you read correctly HER MUSIC VIDEO!) is on the end of this episode, if it isn't just check out the opening sequence to any episode, her music video is the same...but worse...longer...more awkward and painful.

Here's another handy link, have a wee squiz (sp) at your leisure. Some more fab pictures on here. Maybe feel free to post your favourite pic? We could all compare and contrast and judge the ultimate best Erin Simpson picture, just an idea. Anyway.

P.S. I will get onto this show.

P.P.S. Just found out you can buy her song on iTunes. Kirsten... please may I have it?
